Is There a Quick-Fix for a Head Gasket Leak?

A head gasket that leaks is called a blown head gasket. Blown head gaskets can allow excess air into the combustion chamber or allow oil or other fluid leaks along the seal between the block and cylinder head. Blown head gaskets are, at first, hard to diagnose. But as time passes and the pressure and heat have their way, the leaks become more substantial and undeniable.

The only real cure for a blown head gasket is to have the compromised gasket removed and replaced. The replacement of a head gasket is an expensive operation requiring the tools and expertise of a trained technician. When you need to replace your car’s head gasket, bring it to FIAT of Portland for a certified car repair by trained technicians. If your leak is small, there are products you can apply to the leak on the market. However, these products are a temporary fix and not a substitute for thorough repairs.
